How to wake up the computer in a certain time?

Post by Alex » Thu Jun 07, 2007 9:39 am

Windows allows you to specify the time when the computer should wake up from the Hibernation mode, but you can specify it only ONCE at a time due to some peculiarities of interaction with ASPI-compatible motherboards.

It is possible to specify the time of waking the computer up in xStarter, but of course only one of the specified values will work due to Windows limitations (or general limitations in the modern architecture of the computer).

The tasks should look something like this:
1. If today is a certain day of the week or a certain date, specify the wake-up time while the computer is on.
2. When you finish working with the computer, do not turn it off, but hibernate it. You can do it either with the help of the program or in a traditional way: Hold down the Shift key and click the new "Hibernate" item in the "Turn Off Computer" window (Start/Turn Off Computer).

If it is not a regular workstation, but, say, a server in you case and it is always hibernated at 23:59 and is woken up in the morning, you can hibernate the computer and at the same time specify the wake-up time. See an example of such a task in the attachment.
